The Asian Fund for Cancer Research Limited congratulates world-renowned neuroscientist, Nancy Ip, Ph.D., the Morningside Professor of Life Science and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Neuroscience at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) on her appointment as its President-Elect beginning October 2022. Prof. Ip will become the first woman to head a public university in Hong Kong.
With AFCR and its donors’ support of HK$1,750,000 for Prof. Ip’s research at HKUST from 2014 to 2019, she advanced her innovative models of the early development of cancer. This critical unmet need in cancer research has similarities to the development of Alzheimer’s disease. The models hold promise in precision medicine and may yield potential biomarkers to detect early-stage cancer and develop individual treatments to halt it in its track.
